Here's a little about me, along with some of my qualifications and registrations and how I work.
I am a qualified therapist and a registered member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). My private practice is in Liverpool City Centre.
I have been interested in ‘people’ for most of my life and my career has always involved supporting others. I completed my counselling and psychotherapy training at the Metanoia Institute London, one of the leading therapy training institutions in the UK and Europe. I work from a person centred, relational approach to counselling and psychotherapy.
I offer a professional, down to earth and confidential space to support you to explore, reflect and understand what has brought you to therapy. What we create together will involve exploring of a range of emotions and experiences that will be challenging and can feel daunting but equally can involve humour and laughter with the aim of insight, understanding, growth and change. I also believe the cultural and social context in which we live has an impact on wellbeing that may be important for us to explore.
In addition to my private practice, I hold part time positions as a teaching fellow at Keele University and a Staff Counsellor for the NHS in Greater Manchester.
Practicalities
Your work with me is confidential. However, in order to maintain the standards of my practice I do speak about my work with another psychotherapeutically trained professional; this is an arrangement that all those practising psychological therapies should be engaged with to ensure the quality, effectiveness and ethics of their therapy. I am also duty bound to protect your safety that of others and to report matters of serious illegality. We can discuss how you wish for me to communicate with other people, should this be your preference and I will explain what information I will keep a record of.
Hourly sessions are offered weekly or fortnightly, usually in an open ended way where you get to decide how long you want support for. Some clients come for a few sessions, some for a few months and others decide to come more longer term over years. Many clients now use therapy to return to over time, accessing support when it's needed most with someone who knows them and their life.
My fees are £50 per hour. I aim to offer an introductory appointment within a day or two and you can decide if counselling and my approach feels right for you. I have a small number of concession spaces I can offer to those who are unwaged during quieter times in my working day - there is usually a waiting list for a concession space.
So if you're looking for a counsellor or psychotherapist in the Liverpool city centre area and you’d like to try meeting to see if we can work together please do get in touch. Call me on the mobile number displayed or send me an email. There will be times at which I am unlikely to be able to answer my mobile however, I will always reply to a voice message as soon as I possibly can.
I can also make recommendations of other therapists who work in specialist areas I do not cover (children, EMDR and male therapists) in the Liverpool and Warrington areas.
